U11A KC Bertrand Contracting Knights
The KC Bertrand Contracting Knights are the U11A Champions of the Kevin Kozar Christmas Classic. The KC Bertrand Contracting Knights are Champs! In the inaugural edition of the Kevin Kozar Christmas Classic, it was a team bearing their former President's association logo on their jerseys who brought home the first trophy.
The Knights got their tournament off to a great start by going undefeated, with a 3-0-1 record, showing their excellent scoring touch, but also strong defensive play and goaltending. The only blemish on their record was a 3-3 tie against the Current River Comets, who would end up with the 4th seed, setting up a semifinal matchup where they would face off again. The rematch would end up being just as intense, with the Knights eking out a 3-2 win. Knights' Captain Jayson Stosic-Bertrand tallied the winning goal to send his team to the finals.
In the other semifinal, the Elks Fierce, who had finished the round robin as the 3rd seed with a 2-1-1 record, upset the 2nd seed North End Flames 3-0, with Tobias Donovan earning the shutout to book the Fierce's trip to the championship match.
The final saw the Knights get out to a 1-0 first period lead on another goal by Jayson Stosic-Bertrand. After a scoreless second period, Carsen Pradissitto doubled the lead midway through the third, before Stosic-Bertrand added his second of the game, giving the Knights a commanding lead with 6:26 left. The Fierce would pull their goalie, and Lyla Height cut into the lead with 1:11 left. Pulling the goalie again right after the faceoff, the Fierce battled hard to create more scoring chances late, only to be denied by Carter Overmeer in the Knights goal, who stood tall to seal the win.
Congratulations to the KC Bertrand Contracting Knights, and a huge shoutout to all the U11A players, coaches, and families for making this a great tournament!
