PLAYER SPONSOR LETTER

New Players - Equipment Checklist

o   Hockey skates and skate guards

o   Shin pads

o   Hockey pants

o   Jock/Jill with cup, ideally with velcro tabs to hold socks up

o   Garter belt For socks (ONLY IF NO VELCRO ON JOCK/JILL)

o   Shoulder pads

o   Elbow pads

o   Hockey gloves

o   Neck guard

o   Helmet – must be C.S.A. approved helmet with full cage

o   Mouth guard (U9 Division and older)

o   Hockey stick

o   Hockey tape

o   Practice jersey

o   Hockey socks – for practice

o   Hockey bag to carry/store equipment

 

10 Ways to be a Great Hockey Parent
  • Get involved with the team in a positive way.
  • Let your son and daughter know you enjoy having them involved with the game
  • Don't lose perspective, emphasize the values associated with the game
  • Be supportive and don't let expectations become a burden to the player
  • Model respectful behaviour
  • Be there for your child win or lose
  • Make safety, respect, fair play and fun a priority
  • Support your child emotionally
  • Encourage your child to participate but avoid pressuring them to play the game
  • Communicate with the coaches and officials in a professional manner
