Latest U11/U13 Draft News

Hello hockey families!

With the recent schedule changes, and the loss of ice time due to the Fort William First Nation Arena closure, we wanted to keep you updated with respect to the U11/13 evaluations and drafts.

Trying to stay ahead of the ongoing, ever-evolving, COVID-19 situation has prompted a few changes to the plan for the next couple of weeks. 

U11A / U13A
There has been one more skate scheduled for Sunday November 29^th for the U11 and U13 single A pods -- please CLICK HERE to see the updated schedule on the Lakehead Minor Hockey website.  This will be the last skate for these pods.  The U11A and U13A drafts will take place the week of November 30^th.  This year, the drafts will be south side drafts -- coaching staffs from KC, Elks, Westfort, and Neebing will be drafting teams together to try to make teams of equal skill, with full rosters.  The details of the drafts are being worked on, and we will let you know more information once it becomes available.  We are hopeful that practices with the new teams will begin by next weekend.  As previously planned, games should start being played at the beginning of January.

U11AA / U13AA
Evaluations are ending shortly, with the AA drafts to be held Sunday, November 29^th, starting at 9am.  If your player makes AA, you will receive a call sometime shortly after the draft, with information regarding practice details.  Games should start the first week of January.


One final, important thing to note for everyone is that we all know this is a different kind of hockey season.  There will be no playoffs, no tournaments, and no championships to win this year.  The goal is to keep the players having fun, skating safely, and developing their skills.  We thank you all for your understanding, and cooperation in making this the best season we can under these challenging circumstances.  Stay safe, everyone...we'll see you at the rink! :)
