Tournament success for KC teams!

The U13AA KC Sabres capped a strong weekend performance at the season-opening Westfort Ice Breaker Tournament by bringing home the U13AA Championship trophy!  The Sabres finished the round-robin tied for first, with an unbeaten 4-0 record, outscoring their opposition 18-4.  After edging the Norwest Stars 3-2 in the semifinal, the Sabres finished the job with a 6-4 win over the Elks 82's in the final.  Great job, Sabres!!



In other tournament action, the U11A KC Whalers finished as the top team among their Lakehead Minor Hockey League peers in their first ever tournament.  The Whalers finished first in their pool after the preliminary round, and then dispatched the Current River Comets 5-1 in the semifinal, before falling to a very strong Queens team in the final.  Congratulations, Whalers!



Congrats also go out to the U13A KC Golden Knights, who overcame a slow start in the preliminary round to win the U13A Consolation Final with a convincing 4-1 win over the West End Grizzlies.



All in all, a great weekend for hockey!!  It felt good to be back in the rinks for a tournament, where the kids (and parents/grandparents) are supposed to be!  Congrats to all the kids, and all the staffs and volunteers...looking forward to seeing lots of you next month at the KC Christmas Classic!
